Presenting design concepts to clients

Set the Stage Before Showing Anything

Don't jump straight into the visuals. Remind clients of the brief, the problem you're solving, and the research that informed your decisions. This context transforms your presentation from "here's some stuff I made" into "here's the strategic solution to your challenge."

Tell the Story Behind Your Choices

Every design decision should have a reason. Walk through your color choices, typography selections, and layout decisions with purpose. When clients understand why you chose that shade of blue or that particular font pairing, they're far more likely to trust your expertise.

Show Work in Context

Never present a logo floating on a white artboard. Mock it up on business cards, websites, and real-world applications. Context helps clients visualize how the design actually functions in their business, making it easier for them to say yes.

Handle Feedback Like a Pro

When clients suggest changes, ask questions before reacting. Often their feedback addresses a real concern but suggests the wrong solution. Dig deeper to understand the root issue, then offer your professional perspective on the best way forward.
